ボビンレースの糸巻きについて
日本の教室では、ボビンはベルギー型を使用し、糸は上半分のみに巻くよう指導されることが多いです。私も最初はこの方法で習いました。（ちなみに、ボビン自体はいまもベルギー型を使用しています。）
「糸は上半分だけ」というやり方には理由があり、下まで巻くのは少し大変ですし、手で糸をべたべた触ってしまうため、汚れ防止の観点からも推奨されているそうです。（特に白い糸はすぐに汚れてしまいます。）
ですが、上半分だけに巻くと糸が分厚くなり、ボビンの下の方に食い込んでしまい、結果的に糸が動かなくなることがよくあります。その結果、糸を傷めたり、ほどくのに時間がかかったりしてしまいます。
そこで私は、ボビンの際までしっかり糸を巻く方法に切り替えました。これでも時々は食い込みますが、以前よりずっとスムーズに扱えるようになったと感じています。ただし、ボビンの下の方は少し巻きにくいので、巻き方には少し工夫が必要です。
About Winding Thread on Bobbins
In Japanese lace-making classes, Belgian-style bobbins are often used, and students are usually instructed to wind the thread only around the upper half. I also initially learned this method (and I still use Belgian-style bobbins today).
The reason for winding only the upper half is mainly to prevent dirt: winding all the way down can be difficult, and handling the thread too much can dirty it—especially with white thread, which stains easily.
However, winding only on the upper half often causes the thread to thicken and bite into the lower part of the bobbin, making the thread hard to move. This can damage the thread and waste time when trying to unwind it.
Thus, I switched to winding the thread all the way to the bottom of the bobbin. Although there is still occasional thread biting, I find the thread now moves much more smoothly. That said, winding neatly down to the bottom takes a bit of technique.
Concernant l’enroulement du fil sur les fuseaux
Dans les cours de dentelle au Japon, on utilise souvent des fuseaux de style belge, et l’on enseigne généralement aux élèves d’enrouler le fil uniquement sur la moitié supérieure. J’ai moi-même appris de cette façon (et j’utilise toujours des fuseaux belges aujourd’hui).
Cette méthode vise à éviter que le fil ne se salisse : enrouler jusqu’en bas est plus difficile, et toucher fréquemment le fil peut le salir, surtout s’il est blanc.
Cependant, n’enrouler que sur la moitié supérieure peut provoquer un épaississement du fil, qui s’enfonce ensuite dans la partie inférieure du fuseau, rendant le mouvement difficile. Cela risque d’abîmer le fil et de rendre son dévidage laborieux.
Par conséquent, j’ai changé de méthode et j’enroule désormais le fil jusqu’au bas du fuseau. Bien qu’il arrive encore que le fil s’enfonce, je trouve que la manipulation est beaucoup plus fluide. Cela dit, il faut un peu de technique pour bien enrouler jusqu’en bas.
